About the project
Truenorth, a production company established in 2003, is a European leader in film, advertising, and television production services. The company provides services for film studios and streaming platforms, and produces its own content. It has offices in seven countries.
Most of Truenorth's projects are based in Iceland, where Icelandic nature often plays a central role. The company's extensive expertise in Icelandic conditions provides its partners a solid base to work from.
We are very pleased to see the Truenorth website featured on Siteinspire and Awwwards, which showcase only the most innovative and successful web projects.
Discovery with design thinking
Approach
The new Truenorth website was inspiring as a design project. The imagery of the dramatic landscapes across the seven countries where Truenorth operates plays a significant role. The remarkable visuals and videos are given center stage on the website.
Design
Truenorth already had a distinctive identity for its promotional materials. We adapted this for web and digital media, adding animated elements that enhance the visuals without distracting from the imagery. The website structure was redesigned to better reflect the company's focus and make it easier for users to explore Truenorth's services and projects.

Highlighting Iconic Projects
Truenorth's projects are showcased individually, featuring trailers, production images, and other promotional materials. Each project's unique character is highlighted by emphasizing visuals and keeping text minimal.
Truenorth's impressive client list is also featured, allowing users to explore detailed information about each project.
Beautiful assets deserve complementary motion design

The Truenorth website was simultaneously easy and pretty complicated. It was easy because the client was great—responsive, positive, and always ready to help us finish this project. It was complex because the beautiful assets we were working with deserved complementary motion design, which is never straightforward to pull off in a way that both visually adds to the experience and preserves the site's accessibility and usability. I think we got that balance about right.
